The Appalachian mountain region of Western North Carolina is a world-renowned outdoor playground  – a haven in the Land of Sky for enthusiasts of outdoor recreation!

Some of the highest peaks in the East, surrounded by vast areas of wilderness and miles and miles of trails, invite visitors from all over the world. The  Swannanoa Valley History Museum, right here in Black Mountain, offers many guided hiking programs, including the ever popular Rim Hike that I completed in December of last year!  (And will be doing again this year with my partner, Steve)
