10Oct17 – Many people think of Columbus Day weekend (or Indigenous Day weekend as some areas are now calling it) as the peak time to see WNC mountain foliage. Even though we are much further South than New England, we are at a much higher in altitude, so out peak foliage is usually a couple of weeks later. As we drove the Blue Ridge Pkwy up to Mount Mitchell this weekend the colors are still muted and in their infancy – even at 6500 ft above sea level!
Here is a great link for scenic foliage drives through WNC. Enjoy the splendor of the season!
